Buying a fragrance can be challenging and of course having just one in your bathroom cabinet simply won’t do. Different occasions warrant different scents. With that in mind, I have created the first in a series of round ups of the best selling fragrances for men which I have entitled “The Strongdoctor Seven”. The inaugural offering has some delightful, award winning scents which, of course, are available to purchase should you wish to.
Hugo Boss BOSS Bottled Intense
Profound and distinctly manly, Boss Bottled Intense is a rich fragrance for characteristically sophisticated gentlemen who enjoy leaving their mark and making an impression. A rather exotic concoction of colourful cinnamon and clove blend with orange blossom and rich vanilla. Infused with woody and wood tones, it is fervently not as sweet as Boss “The Scent” which makes it far more suitable for the winter.
Acqua di Parma Colonia Eau de Cologne Spray
Perfect for dapper gentlemen, this sophisticated fragrance will remain for hours. Its notes of grapefruit and blood mandarin synchronise with cinnamon, fresh spice and Indian Patchouli. It is seductive yet doesn’t override, making it an impeccable choice for the warm summer months.
Dior Homme Intense Eau de Parfum
Intense by Christian Dior is the third fragrance in the Homme series (after Homme and Homme Sport) and provides the perfect accompaniment to a gentleman’s well turned-out and spruced up appearance. Somewhat Brave and yet deliciously fragrant, the scent consists of floral and musky accents such as hibiscus seed, Virginia cedar and vetiver. A slight word of caution; do not overdo the application of this seemingly elegant scent however, as a little does rather go a long way.
Tom Ford for Gentlemen Eau De Toilette
The first fragrance for gentlemen from Tom Ford and is a light, musky thing that should work wonders for any gentleman. It begins with suggestions of grapefruit flower, which tip to a healthy mix of tobacco leaves, ginger and amber. As a nice little USP, this is also the first fragrance to comprise the rare Indian root, Cypriol. A versatile fragrance – good for day or night, summer or winter, and very pleasant throughout its lifespan.
Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling Eau De Toilette
The advertising material describes this lovely gentleman’s fragrance as a “tribute to the ‘Bright Young Things’ of the roaring twenties” and “a beloved and iconic tipple has been transformed into a complex and compulsive skin scent.” It is certainly an intriguing propasition. It is decidedly invigorating scent, Juniper Sling pools notes of gin, brandy, spice and soft leather. In addition to its gorgeous smell, it comes packaged in a delightful bottle that should be kept keenly on show.
Light Blue Pour Homme en Eau de Toilette by Dolce & Gabbana
This fragrance by D&G has won a multitude of industry awards. This spicy and woody scent is a follow-up to the original Light Blue for women. Inspired by the heat of the Mediterranean combining delightful notes of refreshing mandarin, juniper, rosewood and pepper. An easy to wear fragrance, perfect for any occasion.
Paco Rabanne Invictus Eau De Toilette
Paco Rabanne has an extensive fragrance portfolio which contains a number of high selling names. I happen to think Invictus is the leader in an impressive pack. Contained in a bottle shaped like a trophy, it brings together notes of grapefruit with oak moss and patchouli and has fantastic longevity. It is not as vibrant as the popular stablemate, 1 Million, so this enthusiastic scent is more suited to the daytime.
